Moment of Bliss

A long stairway came into view, as the winds hummed a silent tune. He watched the stillness as it seduced him. Something beautiful was about to happen. A long orchestra appeared on one side and started playing a harmony. That's when she walked down the staircase with a smile on her face. Her blue gown gleaming under the moon light.

He went up to the staircase, held her hand and kissed it. Then held close to her as they began dancing the night away. Like two universes were finally complete. Swaying from side to side, not feeling like two people, but a single soul in the moment of bliss. A beautiful moment like this, had waited for a long time which made it even more sweet.

Suddenly she stopped swaying with him. Pulled herself back and began walking the staircase again. The music was fading away making him hear her sobs. She reached the top of the staircase and looked back at him. In a flash, the staircase turned into an old wall. He turned back to see long iron bars in front of him.

A tear rolled down his cheek.

He was here, but a part of him was still with her.

The Loner

One of the inhabitants of the busy city, was a brown stray dog. All through the day it would roam around the city, alone. During the mornings it passed by a bridge over the stream. It led to a temple. There, the priest would feed him.

On one such morning, the dog saw a lady standing on the bridge, as she looked at the stream below it. The dog casually made it's way across the bridge, looking at the lady in suspicion. She whistled, calling the dog and threw some food before him. The dog hesitantly ate, as she patted him lightly. She took him to the temple and fed him some more food.

The priest told her that the dog would come to the temple every morning and they would give him the left over food, if there was any.

Soon, the early morning routine of the stray dog changed. The lady waited for him on the bridge, fed him and took him for long walks.

The dog would eagerly wait for mornings so that he could run to the bridge to meet his new friend and she would always tilt her head and smile at him.

One morning, the dog, as always, came running to the bridge but she wasn't there. The dog sat there waiting for her. He waited till noon, watching people cross the bridge. After which he headed back.

She never came back.

From that day on wards, the dog would always find it hard to cross the bridge. As he would halt in between, tilt his head and wait for someone.
