Beautiful Surprises

The long highway was engulfed in a blanket of fog. Sometimes a tree branch might pop out from the side walks, like it had been hanging in thin air.

Every inch around his car was covered with dense dog. An unexpected cross country business trip was turning out to be an adventure tour. Every now and then, a honking car would pass by his car. He tried to maintain a slow speed, as he honked his way through the misty road. The jazz music on the radio, was making the snail-like screnario enjoyable. The only thing that worried him a little, was the fuel tank meter which had now approached the red marker. The optimist inside him consoled him about finding a petrol pump somewhere down the road.

After a while, his car started jerking a little. The optimist was slowly dying a silent death inside him. He didn't panic a lot, as a part of him was still pleased by the weather. Finally, the car gave a final jerk as it took it's last breath. He looked around, and the patch of highway looked nothing different from what he'd been seeing all this time while driving.

He sighed of frustration and waited for his mind to actually come face to face with the current scenario. He got out of the car, searched for an empty container, in the back trunk, found it, and slammed the trunk with a little force as some frustration started building in him.

Standing there on the highway, he waited for a car to pass by him. But it looked like dooms day had struck. Nothing passed his way. He kicked a pebble and made his way towards the left side walk. On walking a few steps he could see a misty image of an army of trees spread far and wide. As he finished crossing the patch of trees, a lake came into view. He felt a little glad about it.

He walked towards the lake and started washing his face with the water. The water was pleasantly cool. He closed his eyes, rinsing his face, letting out sighs of relief. Suddenly, a feminie laughter echoed from somewhere.

He looked back, but the woods were empty. On looked through the mist covered lake and he managed to see a vague image of 4 brunettes. They were laughing and splashing water at each other.

He smiled a little, looked at the reflection of his face in the water, flicked his hair a little and was about to call them. Just then, one of the brunette, saw him and smiled. He gulped down some cold air in his throat, and saw her walking towards him, the other 3 brunettes started following her too.

The next day, somewhere in a village on the country side, a group of old men were reading their morning paper while sipping their morning tea. They all sat in a shed with the roof made of hay. The shed was surrounded by dense farm land on all four sides. It was a regular morning hangout of the old men.

One of the old man read the news paper aloud "Unknown man's body found near lake"

"It also says, he was attacked by crcodiles who had eaten half of his body" he continued.

"You know guys, Crocodiles are much less dangerous, There are far more dangerous creatures out there" he added.

"Could you name any one?" asked another old man, smoking his pipe.

The old man gave him a smile and answered, "Women"

All of them started laughing loudly.
