The Happy Farewell

The heat was getting unbearable. Matt could feel the drops of sweat rolling down his back. All he could do was helplessly look at the left row of the bus, which was barely getting any sunlight and didn't have a single empty seat.

Beside Matt sat an old man, snoring away to glory. His sweaty face didn't hold any expression against the sun light falling on him. His eyes were tightly shut, like a baby in the midst of an intense sleep session. The window blew hot winds on his face, which didn't seem to affect his sleep.

Matt closed his eyes, resisting all the heat. He never realised when he had fallen asleep, a slow surrender which took his consciousness away.

A couple of car horns woke him up. He opened his eyes, to see that the seat beside him was empty now. The old snoring machine must've gone down.

Matt moved towards the window, to see a crowded bus stand. A tea vendor passed by him. He called him and got himself a cup of tea. He slowly sipped the tea, watching the hustle bustle of the bus stop.

The weather started turning a little cloudy, as the bus began moving from the bus stop. Matt could finally enjoy some cool breeze as it flowed in through the window. He started feeling good. A big smile came on his face out of nowhere.

Matt began humming songs of hope, happiness and joy. Smiling at the passer bys. Waving to kids on the road. Staring at beautiful women in their expensive cars. Life was good for Matt, at that very moment.

Meanwhile, somewhere down the road, a little boy saw a bus speeding towards him. A man had his head popped out of the window.

A truck was speeding towards the bus, from the opposite side.

The boy heard a voice echoe, followed by a long squeek of breaks, and finally a loud crash. Frightened, the boy closed his eyes. He then heard something fall before him. He opened his eyes to see Matt's face looking at him, with a numb expression.

I love beheading people. Gah.
